Our
Ideas
Our Overall Decision
We then moved onto selecting our final choice which is Chris brown
beautiful and brainstormed some ideas on what to include within our own music
video production and these were some of the ideas we decided on:
Music Track Choice: Chris Brown – Beautiful People
Writers: Chris Brown, Marco, Benassi, Alessandro Benassi, Jean Baptiste
Duration: The music video is 3.45 seconds.
Pace: Upbeat, Fast
Style: Dancehall, Electro
House, EuroPop
Producers: Benny Banassi, Alle Benassi
Video has individuals such as Brandy, Tyga, Big Sean, Game, Ryan
Leslie, Bow Wow, Pharrel Williams, Swizz Beatz, T-Pain, Estelle, Teyana Taylor,
Omarion, Diddy, Kevin McCall, Nelly and timbland.
Meaning
- The song in my perspective is trying to suggest everyone is beautiful and equal in this world.
- Equality is being portrayed.
- This is emphasized from the use of text to bring our attention back to the message. It eliminates the fun, entertainment and shows layer to beneath. We can see this as a way drawing away what we do, have that we are all beautiful.
Imagery / Locations
The music video includes
- Chris Brown messing around and dancing, this was one theme continued throughout the music video with other individuals getting involved.
- Showing different celebrities signifying beauty from them. It provided a Range of people, not only celebrities; they were shown in clubs mainly. The contrast in status shows their equality and that all of them are beautiful.
- Random shots, i.e. the car scene (turning lights off and on), unexpected beauty is signified from the random acts and messing around
- It presents a message however you have to go beneath the layers of entertainment presented.
- Having a fun in clubs, people jumping up and down (DJ playing music loudly)
- Studio (Working environment) taken and presented to show entertainment and fun (Can be seen as a way of showing Chris Browns hard work in the production for the music)
- Use of instruments to show talents
- “Don’t let them bring you down” message on the wall showing meaning and it can show a sense in not giving up due to the musical talents presented before hand. Could also show reference to how Chris brown didn't give up. Use of talents make more relatable to Chris Brown
- Night life is one aspect that is shown constantly within the music video
- Streets, scooters. Showing difference is also beautiful and fun and can be related to people’s daily lives.
- Lights to elaborate on the fun they are having. Use of yellow color with light makes the individuals stand out. Giving more resemblance to the meaning of how beautiful they are.
- Ends with a message – Your beautiful at the end behind Chris brown to break the constant fun and remind individuals of the overall message.

Elements of the original music video are adapted in the live performance
including the following features:
- Use of bright colors maintained in Live Performance
- The dancing and entertainment used once again
- Dark atmosphere
- Colors of black and white used with neon lights
- Chris is wearing white with neon lights and backing dancers are wearing black with neon lights. This creates a contrast and allows Chris brown to stand out from the rest of the dancers.
- The neon lights change to different colors ranging from white, yellow, blue, orange and so on.
- Difference to the original music video is the main concentration is of Chris brown and two other dancers.
- Use of stairs to change and switch dancers with different types of neon lights on them.
- Clothing of backing dancers are the same colors showing equality which is one of the main concepts in the song that lead to the main message of being beautiful.

Overall Creative Concept
The overall
creative concept can be seen as the presentation of entertainment and fun that
provides an overall meaning of beauty in different aspects of people's lives
Mood Board
Initially this is our groups first idea of our mood board, this being fun bright and energetic. Including a wide range of dancing to be presented. Music and signing to be included, lots of lights and colour to represent the fun atmosphere.
Zahra’s
Mood Board
Zahra produced her own mood board, representing the beauty, music, singing and generally having fun this holding similar elements to what we discussed on with less amount of clubbing scenario This includes just simple fun.
Developed Mood Board
v From what we included as a group I developed our Mood Board in showing more talents to be represented individuals jumping to show fun, music and singing and the mix of male and female to show the equality within the production.

Locations
The
locations that we decided to record in:
Sidney Stringer Academy
One of the areas we decided to record in was in School, this being that many individuals in school represented beauty and we wanted to show a wide range of individuals. Using our school was a great way to show different ethnic backgrounds and equality. In addition to this was a great method including the talents of individuals.
Coventry University
We decided
to record in the Town,
this including Coventry University as many
students were going to be there. This allows
more individuals to be included within our music video.

We aimed the
university as we wanted diversity in
the people we gained this increasing the
older
and younger generation within our video.
and younger generation within our video.
IKEA Car Park
was selected to include the elements for everywhere I go; this shows a
recording around the area in town to symbolize the area for the surroundings.
We also
recorded the lift, this including the inside of the elevator and the buttons to
symbolize a countdown to the music video.
Costumes: As a group
we decided that we will not delegate any costumes to individuals this being
that we wanted to keep our recording natural and present individuals in their
own comfort and decisions. This will allow us better advantage to capture
individuals being natural and themselves.
Props: We also decided that we didn't need any
props this being that we were just capturing individuals doing what they
wanted.
Equipment: We
didn’t need much equipment for our music video. All we needed was a camera and
a tripod. The concept of our music video was to use random shots and for
it to flow naturally.
Storyboard
·
I was in IKEA car park lift; I was pressing the lift buttons so
that we could go to the area we wanted. We used this as an idea of having a
countdown with the lights and when the music video kicks in.
·
The second image was taken on top floor of the Odeon’s car park,
we wanted to film a landscape shot of Coventry town Centre so we can use this
in our video to represent everywhere.
·
For the third shot we decided to get someone inside of the
trolley with the camera, we pushed them in the trolley and filmed a handheld
shot. This shot shows individuals having fun.
·
The fourth image was filmed in Coventry town Centre and we were
doing random shots, and this inspired us to include this within our production
to show that living things are beautiful.
·
The fifth shot is of a young boy who runs from post to post, he
is representing our music video by showing his enjoyment and fun that he is
having.
·
When in Town we found some other young individuals in Coventry
that were interested in skate boarding and they had some tricks on their
showing off their talents and having fun this fit in well with the theme that
we as a group wanted to present to individuals.
·
The 6th image is filmed on a moving escalator, this
idea was done by taking different angles and showing of a range of people while
doing so, this presenting our idea in everyone being beautiful.
·
We also found some individuals doing tricks on their skateboard
therefore we felt it fitted in well with the theme of fun that we were
portraying within our music video for the song.
·
The final shot is a young boy from Sidney Stringer, he mimed to
some of lyrics that we got from the song and added in his own flare to the
music video.

at filming.

This is also a photo of Sonbul recording
for our music video:
To cut to the beat in the music video our group decided to put a effect called 'Procamp' and then we added key frames on to certains beats to match it.
The group added some tranistion on to each of the clips such as 'addictive disolve' and other transitions.
We included clips of individuals miming. We imported the clips aligned with the particular lyrics on the song.
